What’s a girl to wear at the French Riviera? May 2016 Red Carpets

May was a month of glamour! Whether at the Cannes film festival or the Met Gala or even the Billboard music awards there was a lot to look at!  Before I dive in to the 2017 resort wear collections here’s my May 2016 rundown!  While scoping the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival I wonder- what does say Blake Lively’s Cannes suitcase look like?  How do you pack so many beautiful dresses?  There is a whole world of people traveling in what seems like a parallel universe, where packing a suitcase doesn’t entail checking if it is “overweight” and designers throw dresses at you with hopes that you will wear them gracing their name.  Us plain-folk can only dream of that kind of treatment but in the meantime I wonder.  Is her hotel room/ suite just overloaded with dresses?  Did she bring them with her or did the designers just show up with a dress and shoes and voila?  A quick look at some of the stars instagrams will provide some answers but in the meantime- here are sketches of some of my favorite looks from the red carpets of May- most of them from the coveted festival on the French Riviera:

One of the trends we keep seeing are ruffles.  At the AmFar event Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss (both sketched above) and Katy Perry all showed off their shoulders with details, some exposing others just drawing attention to that area.  Other hot trends in evening wear include: high slits, metallics and corset-like tops.

Short and edgy- one of my favorite looks from the Billboard Music Awards

May has been a glamourous month and I can’t wait to see what June has in store! Stay tuned for my 2017 Resort wear rundown!
