Stripes Galore- New York Fashion Week, Spring Summer 2017

NY Fashion week launched Spring Summer 2017 fashion season and we have seen a wide array of creations from edgy to fairy princess-y.  Oh and the colors!!  It was a pleasure drawing throughout the week and I am so excited to continue being inspired.

Without further ado here are some sketches straight from my sketchbook:

Inspired by Tory Burch, Naeem Khan and Marchesa
Inspired by Reem Acra and Ralph Lauren
Inspired by Jeremy Scott and Alice & Olivia
Inspired by Marissa Webb and Nicole Miller
Inspired by Jenny Packham
Sheer and fringes inspired by Monique Lhullier
Inspired by Nicole Miller and Oscar de la Renta
Shoulders galore inspired by Erin Fetherson
Inspired by Carolina Herrera
Inspired by Marchesa
Inspired by Oscar de la Renta
Inspired by Monique Lhullier
Some of the trends I spotted were bare midriffs, off the shoulder and shoulder cutouts,  ruffles, stripes, checkered and polka dot patterned material and lots of sheer fabrics.  Many of these are recurring trends from previous seasons that don’t seem to be going anywhere.  I applaud designers with new ideas and approaches, for example – Alexander Wang deconstructed the button  down dress shirt and Jeremy Scott bringing us “Slime” (printed on fabric) which I thought was amazing!!  The next shows will tell more about what trends really are the frontrunners.  In terms of accessories a bunch of designers had fringe earrings which I loved!  I have to get a pair!

Here are 2 trends from NYFW:

This is really just a little taste of NYFW.  It really was a great week!  My sketchbook is ready for more- next up London!  Stay tuned!

Have a great week xox~WAGTD
