Fashion season continued with NYFW’s wild and eclectic sister-London Fashion week! With a mix of colors and different silhouettes it was an interesting couple of days full of surprises. Let’s take a moment to focus on what the London shows had to offer. Dancing fruit, colorful craziness, mismatched patterns and Croc and sneaker clad models marching down the runway. It was a week full of surprises!
I don’t usually pick favorites but this past fashion season in London I had 2 obvious ones- Mary Katrantzou – who is fast becoming one of my favorite designers. Her collection displays a mix of printed and embroidered images inspired by ancient Greek art and peace with embroidered doves and olive branches. On the other end of the spectrum are her psychedelic and hypnotic colorful pieces that gave a nod to the 70s. She really brought us to a “Paradise City” as sung in her finale song by Guns and Roses. I always love a good mix of fashion and music.
Another favorite was Erdem with their feminine and flowy dresses and the thick straps, some of those looks are sure to be seen on upcoming red carpets!
Without further ado I bring you some scenes from my sketchbook:
The trends that continued in London were sheer fabric, tiered skirts, ruffles, shoulders galore, stripes and more but here is a trend that continued that to me really defined LFW; mixed patterns and fabrics:
Next up- Milan!
